Ryan Tannehill had a huge day throwing the ball, but it wasn't enough to avoid a loss for the Dolphins against the Panthers, 20-16, at home.
Tannehill managed a decent 28 for 42 with 310 yards passing, one touchdown and one pick. For the Panthers, Cam Newton wound up 19 for 38 with 174 yards passing, two touchdowns (1 pass, 1 rush) and one pick.
Lamar Miller ran for eight yards on 10 carries in addition to four receptions for 39 yards. Mike Wallace was a top performer, snagging five balls for 127 yards with a touchdown.
The Miami defense surrendered 136 yards rushing and 174 passing. They sacked Newton two times.
Panthers tight end Greg Olsen could not be contained, putting up 34 receiving yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Steve Smith also had a good game with 69 receiving yards.
The Dolphins travel to East Rutherford next week to meet the Jets (5-6) while the Panthers are at home to take on the Buccaneers (3-8).
