Mexico completed its preparation for Sunday’s Gold Cup opener with Panama by losing 3-2 to Queretaro on Wednesday.

It could’ve been worse but for two late goals from substitute Javier Orozco.

The loss follows on from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Cruz Azul Hidalgo and has left many question marks about El Tri “B” going into the CONCACAF competition.

Jose Manuel “Chepo" de la Torre was again left to face the press lamenting another negative surrounding the Mexican national team, off the back of the weak displays in the Confederations Cup and in World Cup qualifying.

“There are things that can’t happen in a competition because they send you out, they are basic (errors),” commented Chepo after the game on the mistakes which led to Queretaro’s goals.

De la Torre admitted his team lacked fluidity, but didn’t complain about the attitude and reiterated that the goal in to head to the United States to win the Gold Cup.

“The objectives are clear: The main one is qualifying for Brazil 2014 and we will also look to win the Gold Cup,” he added.

The press reaction in Mexico to the stuttering Gold Cup preparation has been highly critical and the Mexico coach again faced chants of “Chepo out” from the sparse crowd in Queretaro.

Mexico’s starting lineup was Jonathan Orozco, Miguel Layun, Joel Huiqui (C), Jair Pereira, Adrian Aldrete, Alejandro Castro, Carlos Pena, Efrain Velarde, Javier Cortes, Marco Fabian and Rafael Marquez Lugo.
