The Mexican national team arrived in Houston on Monday to face Guyana in their Brazil 2014 qualifier. The team arrived in separate flights, as the locally based players flew from Mexico, while the European legionnaires landed separately.
Defender Francisco Rodriguez of Stuttgart, Espanyol defender Hector Moreno, Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez and Valencia winger Andres Guardado all touched down late Monday and joined El Tri at their hotel.
Jonathan Orozco and Joel Huiqui, who were called up last minute to replace Guillermo Ochoa and Hiram Mier, respectively, arrived with the first group of players and coach Jose Manuel de la Torre.
Antonio Naelson and Alfredo Talavera of Toluca arrived jointly on a different plane than the rest of the Liga MX players, as they boarded directly from Tijuana after their Sunday night match against the Xolos.
The match was moved from Guyana to Houston to take advantage of El Tri's fan base, despite the fact that the match is technically a home game for Guyana. El Tri is already qualified for the final hexagonal round, and will close out the current group of games this Oct. 16 against El Salvador.
