Mets reliever Feliciano has hole in heart

New York Mets left-handed relief pitcher Pedro Feliciano is taking a break from baseball activities after being diagnosed with having a hole in his heart, according to ESPN New York.

The small hole is located on the exterior of Feliciano's heart. The pitcher said it is not life-threatening. Surgery has not yet been discussed.

Feliciano's condition was discovered after he reported having an irregular heartbeat, according to Newsday. He will wear a heart monitor.

Feliciano, 36, has not pitched in the major leagues since 2010. He has a 3.31 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over his eight-year career.
