Mendenhall could miss all of 2012

National Football Post

Pittsburgh Steelers GM Kevin Colbert isn't counting on running back Rashard Mendenhall to be back for the 2012 season.

Mendenhall suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in the Steelers' regular-season finale and will start 2012 on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. Colbert did not sound optimistic about counting on Mendenhall next season.

I never feel good about an ACL until (after) a year," Colbert told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I'm not a doctor, but that's just my mindset. If he gets back before that, it's a bonus."

The Steelers are also likely to have nose tackle Casey Hampton start his season on the PUP list as well, as he tore his ACL in Pittsburgh's playoff loss to Denver.
