Melvin Guillard Granted Release from World Series of Fighting
Lightweight Melvin Guillard was granted his release from World Series of Fighting on Thursday. His manager, First Round Management CEO Malki Kawa, broke the news via Twitter.

Guillard (23-13-2, 2 NC) was scheduled to take on Ozzy Dugulubgov at WSOF 20 on April 10, but was pulled from the fight card days before the event for failing to submit his medicals. He competed twice for the organization. He knocked out Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante in his promotional debut, but lost to champion Justin Gaethje by split decision in his next outing. Guillard missed weight for both contests.

During a media conference call following Guillard being pulled from the fight card, WSOF president Ray Sefo blasted the fighter’s unprofessionalism.
“[Guillard] missed weight for his first fight. He missed weight for a world title fight. He put us at risk in terms of… because, what happens if he'd won that fight? And then our PR team has reached out to him and his management team to do PR. He just completely ignored that, and then he goes off and does his own interview with somebody else and trash talks the company. It's just, you know, I'm not going to tolerate that kind of behavior.”
Before signing with WSOF in 2014, Guillard appeared on the second season of The Ultimate Fighter and fought 22 times inside the Octagon, compiling a 12-9, 1 NC record with the promotion.
There has been no word yet and where Guillard might fight next.
