The man behind New England is head coach Bill Belichick. Belichick has been with New England since 2000, the same year that Tom Brady was drafted by the Patriots. Belichick has been the key factor in creating the winning culture that currently exists in New England. He has a unique ability to take ordinary players or players that are thought to be “over the hill” and tap into their potential. He is also known for being able to quickly weed out anyone that doesn’t belong. New England has become the place to be. It’s the place that rookies and veteran free agents hope to one day be able to play.

When Chris Long was signed he said, “A fresh start is great and I just wanted an opportunity to win and an opportunity to be a part of something like this organization is great. . . I can’t wait to prove myself. The last two (injury-plagued) years I’ve made no excuses about it. I feel very good right now and that’s all I can say.”

Cyrus Jones said, “when that pick came up I was just praying to God that they would take a chance on me and just that I’d have the opportunity to land at such a great organization. It’s one of the best organizations in the whole league, possibly the best, and I couldn’t be more happy with where I ended up.”

Malcolm Mitchell said after being drafted, “I’m truly thankful. I thank the organization for believing in me and it’s my job to come up there and work as hard as I can to show that they made a good decision.”

Chris Hogan pledged his loyalty to New England saying, “I try to be that guy that’s willing to do anything and everything to help this team win.”

E.J. Biggers described New England as, “Just an organization [that’s] top of the food chain. It’s somewhere you want to be.”

After being drafted Jacoby Brissett shared his excitement to be a part of the Patriots saying, “You’ve got one of the greatest coaches of all time in Bill Belichick to learn from as well as Tom Brady.”

Even most former members of the team would agree that playing in New England is something special. After Akiem Hicks was signed by Chicago he said, “I will forever have a great deal of respect for them and what they do, and know why they’re in a position they’re in year in and year out.”

New England offers the opportunity for players to be a part of something most teams can’t provide. A winning culture where no individual comes before the team. A place where sacrifice and hard work always take precedent.
