Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron was spotted with a walking boot on his right foot Friday as the Crimson Tide arrived in Atlanta for Saturday's Chick-Fil-A Kickoff game, but he will play against Virginia Tech in the Georgia Dome, ESPN reported Friday night. Alabama coach Nick Saban had not mentioned a possible injury this week, though McCarron was known to have bruised a foot in practice earlier in the month. According to ESPN, McCarron was wearing the boot because of an ingrown toenail. "AJ practiced all week, will play tomorrow and (wearing the boot) is just a precautionary measure," an Alabama spokesperson told ESPN. McCarron's backup is junior Blake Sims. Virginia Tech enters the game after losing starting tight end Ryan Malleck to a shoulder injury for the season.
