McCarron will return to Alabama for senior season

Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron will return to college for his senior season, the university reported in a release on Wednesday.

"There were some factors in my decision to return to Alabama for my senior year but after talking to my family and coaches, I knew it was the right choice for me," McCarron said in a statement.

McCarron, a junior, leads the nation in passing efficiency. He has completed 66.8 percent of his passes for 26 touchdowns with just three interceptions.

He will lead the No. 2-ranked Crimson Tide (12-1) against No. 1 Notre Dame in the Jan. 7 BCS national championship game in Miami.

"We are pleased that AJ has decided to return for his senior year next season," Alabama coach Nick Saban said in the release. "He's done a great job for us and has really grown, not only as a quarterback and a player, but as a leader of our team."
