Update: Scherzer will miss his start Wednesday in Kansas City after twisting his right ankle during the celebration after Detroit won the AL Central on Monday night, the Associated Press reports.
Recommendation: So much for those hopeful Scherzer would make that final start after seemingly overcoming shoulder woes. Manager Jim Leyland doesn't think the ankle injury is serious, but we'll see if it affects the way he sets his playoff rotation. It appears as if Leyland may just split up Wednesday's game among relievers since it doesn't really matter much for the Tigers, and he may not want to burn an arm for the first playoff game or two by having that guy pitch most of Wednesday's game.
