Mavericks sign Fab Melo

The Dallas Mavericks signed center Fab Melo and two other players, the team announced Tuesday.

The Mavericks have been looking for a center since they failed to land Greg Oden.

Melo was traded from Boston to Memphis after his rookie season with the Celtics. He was then waived by the Grizzlies in August, two weeks after they acquired him.

A first-round draft pick in 2012, Melo played only six games for the Celtics last season. He spent most of the season with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League.

The Mavs also signed D.J. Kennedy and Mickey McConnell to expand the current roster to 17 players.

The 6-6 Kennedy was a NBA D-League All-Star last season. He played two games for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

McConnell played last season in Italy after playing his college ball at St. Mary's.
