Mauricio Pochettino: I'm open to coaching PSG one day

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino has suggested he would like to coach Paris Saint-Germain in the future after playing for the Ligue 1 leaders between 2001 and 2003.

The Argentine boss has impressed since taking over from Nigel Adkins in January 2013, and the Saints currently sit eighth in the Premier League table with 39 points from 27 games.

There was doubt surrounding Pochettino's future when close friend and Southampton's former executive chairman Nicola Cortese departed the club last month and, despite deciding to stay with the south coast club, Pochettino has declared he would love to coach les Parisiens one day.

"Why not? I liked coaching Espanyol where I was also a player. So yes, I'd like to have the opportunity to lead PSG one day," he told beIn Sport. "I enjoyed my spell there a lot and I had the chance to be captain of the team. I spent three wonderful years there.

"I always look at the results of the club and their evolution. They are up there with the other top teams in Europe and I hope they will win the Champions League this season."

PSG tops Ligue 1 by five points over second-placed Monaco, while it looks likely to progress to the quarterfinals of the Champions League after a last 16 4-0 first-leg win at Bayer Leverkusen.
