LeBron going back to Cavs:

Matthew Macklin Wants a Rematch Against Sergio Martinez: Fan Reaction

Yahoo Contributor Network

Matthew Macklin (29-4-0, 20 knockouts) sent Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 knockouts) to the canvas during the 7th round of their March 17 encounter -- some might argue that the latter tripped. But he ended up getting stopped in the 11th.

Macklin rebounded from the loss with an impressive first round knockout of Joachim Alcine on Sept. 15, while Martinez outclassed Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in the fight-card's main event.

The Brit wants another shot at "Maravilla," and he's confident he'll be victorious if the two ever meet again.

"After having watched Sergio put on such a dominating performance against Chavez Jr. prior to the last round, and to think in our fight I was ahead after 9 rounds. It shows where my standing is in the middleweight division. And I believe I am the only middleweight in the world that can justifiably say that I can beat Sergio Martinez," Macklin said during an interview with Boxingscene.com. "It was a master class performance by Sergio. He schooled him [Chavez Jr.] really. If you look at my performance I am really the only one who can say I can beat Martinez. He is the king of the middleweight division and I am the heir to the throne."

Macklin held his own during the first half of his fight against Martinez, and things could have turned out differently if his cardio didn't fail him. I personally enjoyed watching Macklin and Martinez go at it earlier in the year, and I wouldn't mind watching the two square up again.

However, Martinez has a lot of buzz around him right now, and I'm sure he'll like to secure a few big paydays.

Macklin might be a competent boxer, but he's not very well-known by casual boxing fans. It wouldn't make any sense for Martinez to take a lower paying fight against a guy he's already beaten, simply to prove that he can do it again.
