Matt Garza: (Strained Lat) Will Begin Season On DL
Update: Garza will begin the season on the disabled list due to tightness in his side, the Chicago Tribune reports. "It's a minor setback that [he] could wind up missing two weeks to a month," manager Dale Sveum said. "Now you're looking at him getting two [Cactus League] starts at the most."

Recommendation: The hope is that Garza will be able to return by early May. In the meantime, though, he'll be shut down for the next week before he'll be able to resume his throwing program. Since Garza is sidelined indefinitely and Scott Baker is attempting to come back from Tommy John surgery, both Travis Wood and Carlos Villanueva have been inserted into the Cubs' rotation to begin the season.
