Matt Flynn: Won't be Handed Starting Job

Rotowire.com
Update: Flynn, who signed a three-year deal with the Seahawks in March, won't be handed the starting job right away but will have to compete with Tarvaris Jackson, NFL.com reports.

Recommendation: Coach Pete Carroll said essentially as much at the time of the signing, but Flynn didn't get a guaranteed $10 million to be the backup. Carroll, though, loves to emphasize training-camp competition, and this ostensibly makes Flynn work for the job while providing a less arbitrary reason to bench last year's starter.
