San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Matt Cain hasn't been the same since his perfect game against the Houston Astros on June 13, posting an ERA over four since that monumental feat. Aside from a win against the Astros in his first start following the All-Star break, he has been winless in his last four starts and has struggled to be consistent. After starting off the season so well, Cain has failed to pitch six innings in his last two outings, the first time he has missed the mark this season, and will look to regain form against the Colorado Rockies.
The Giants will certainly need the better Cain after getting shutout on Friday night. After such a great road trip offensively, the Giants have not shown that same hitting ability at AT&T Park. With guys like Buster Posey and Angel Pagan excelling and Pablo Sandoval soon returning, the lineup is on the verge of being complete.
For the Rockies, Drew Pomeranz will look to continue his recent success. After throwing four shutout innings and a career-high seven strikeouts against the Los Angeles Dodgers, this top draft pick will try to give the Rockies their second back-to-back wins of the week.
The San Francisco Giants will host the Colorado Rockies at AT&T Park located in San Francisco, CA on Saturday, August 10, 2012 at 1:05 p.m. PT. This will be the second game in a three-game series.
