Derrick Mason says he wants to officially retire as a Baltimore Raven.
Mason, who hung it up last season after spending time with the Jets and Texans, chose his six seasons in Baltimore over the seven years he spent with the Tennessee Titans franchise, which selected him in the fourth round of the 1997 draft.Baltimore Sun. “Tennessee gave me an opportunity — and I will always be grateful for that — to actually live out one of my dreams and play this game and play at a high level. But once I got to Baltimore, that’s when I really started to grow as a player, that’s when I really started to understand what this game was about, why I was I was playing it. That’s why I want to retire as a Raven, because I had some great, great memories there and I met a lot of great people. That’s my football family.”
Once Mason turns in his retirement paperwork, he can then sign a one-day contract with the Ravens to retire as a member of that team.
