Maryland QB Brown injured after hit

The SportsXchange

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --- Maryland starting quarterback C.J. Brown did not return for the start of the second half after suffering an injury with 5:33 left in the second quarter of Saturday's showdown against Florida State.

The team has not announced the exact nature of the injury.

Brown was six-for-14 passing for 82 yards when he suffered the injury, which occurred when FSU senior defensive tackle Jacobbi McDaniel leveled Brown on a long pass play. Replays showed McDaniel hit Brown in the chest with his helmet, but no penalty for roughing the passer or targeting was called.

Brown stayed down for several minutes before getting up and being taken by the Terrapins' training staff directly to the locker room. He was replaced by sophomore Caleb Rowe.
