Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte returned to the starting lineup for the first time since August 18 on Tuesday. The addition of Marte, who is batting .282 with 11 homers and 36 stolen bases, gives a boost to the Pirates offense as they battle St. Louis and Cincinnati in the National League Central. Marte was activated from the disabled list on September 7 after recovering from a badly bruised hand. But since then he played in only seven games, and only as a pinch-runner of defensive replacement. He has not had an at-bat since he was injured August 18. Marte is listed as the Pirates' starting left fielder and is batting leadoff in Tuesday's game against San Diego.
