Third baseman Chone Figgins signed a minor-league contract with the Miami Marlins on Friday that includes an invite to the team's major-league camp next week. Figgins, 35, hit .181 in 66 games for Seattle last season and .185 the past two years, well below his .277 career average. He was released after the 2012 season by the Mariners with one year left on a four-year $36 million contract. With Placido Polanco expected to be the Marlins' starting third baseman, Figgins most likely will compete for a bench role.
