Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien will become the 46th member of the Redskins Ring of Fame this fall.

Washington Redskins President/GM announced at today's 53rd Annual Welcome Home Luncheon that former Redskins QB Mark Rypien will be inducted in the Redskins Ring of Fame this fall. Rypien is on of three different QBs that won a Super Bowl in Washington under Head Coach Joe Gibbs, and he was also the MVP of Super Bowl XXVI .

Rypien was with the Redskins from 1986-1993, starting 72 games for the team.  During his time with the Redskins, he completed 1,244 of his 2,207 passing attempts for 15,928 yards and 101 TDs, along with 8 rushing TDs.  He led one of the best offense in NFL during the 1991 season.  The team outscored their opponents by 261 points which is the third highest total since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.

Rypien won the Super Bowl with the Redskins following that season and was named the Super Bowl MVP.  During the game he completed 18 of his 33 passes for 292 yards and 2 TDs to defeat the Buffalo Bills 37-24.  This was Washington's 5 NFL title, and their third Super Bowl victory.  This was the first(and only) time that I personally got to watch a Redskins Super Bowl victory so this one holds a lot of meaning for me personally.

Congratulations to Mark Rypien.
