Mark Hunt Inks Six-Fight UFC Deal, Plans on Retiring After Fulfilling Contract

Mark Hunt has signed a new six-fight deal with the UFC and he will likely retire from fighting upon fulfilling his contract, according to a report on Wednesday.

Hunt spoke with UFC Tonight and explained that rumors about him considering an immediate retirement were unfounded, and the fighter is very happy with his new deal.

Hunt last fought in the UFC in December of 2013 in a memorable heavyweight bout against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. The two traded strikes for five rounds to a draw, and the fight is widely considered one of the best heavyweight fights of all time.

Shortly after the bout, it was revealed that Silva was flagged for elevated testosterone, and the fighter was suspended for nine months.

Hunt is currently signed to face Roy Nelson at a UFC Fight Night card on Sept. 2o. The bout will headline the event, which takes place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
