Mariners hire Hansen as new hitting coach

The Seattle Mariners announced Dave Hansen as their new hitting coach on Monday, the Seattle Times reported.

Hansen, who was fired as the Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach, is a former Mariners infielder. He was the only coach on the Dodgers' Don Mattingly-led staff who was not kept.

Hansen, 43, replaces Chris Chambliss, who was let go at the end of the season.

The Mariners, who struggled offensively this year, finished 75-87.
