Marcus Smart not turning pro

Oklahoma State freshman point guard Marcus Smart was projected as an NBA lottery pick, but he will return to school for his sophomore season instead of entering the NBA draft this year, multiple media outlets reported.

Smart is expected to announce his decision Wednesday in a news conference at the school.

The 6-4 Smart was named the Big 12 player of the year as a freshman, when he averaged 15.4 points and 4.2 assists per game.

Both NBADraft.net and DraftExpress.com projected Smart to be the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming draft if he were to come out. Chad Ford of ESPN.com projected Smart to be the No. 2 overall selection.
