Marc Gasol scores 23, Grizzlies defeat Pistons

Zach Randolph finished with 17 points and recorded 22 rebounds, his seventh double-double of the season, to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a victory over the Detroit Pistons, 95-88. Memphis (9-1) is now on a three-game winning streak.

Randolph finished 7-22 and converted 3-6 from the free throw line. Marc Gasol also contributed for Memphis, finishing with 23 points and eight rebounds. On 5-8 shooting (5-7 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 6-6 from the free throw line, Kyle Singler put up 21 points off the bench for Detroit in the loss. Josh Smith added 11 points and seven rebounds.

As expected, the Pistons offense did not have its best game, struggling to score against the elite Grizzlies defense that ranks fourth in the league with a defensive efficiency of 97.5. They registered just .968 points per possession in this game, and rank 26th in the NBA with an offensive efficiency of 98.0 on the season.

Coming up next, the Grizzlies take on the Houston Rockets, who are 9-1 on the year. The Pistons match up against the Orlando Magic, currently 4-7 this season.
