Buenos Aires (AFP) - With Diego Maradona about to make a Valentine's Day announcement of his engagement to wed, an ex- of his said Wednesday she is pregnant by him for the second time.
The Argentine football legend already has five children from four women.
One of the women is Veronica Ojeda, who has a son with Maradona named Diego Fernando, who turns one this week. Now, Ojeda says she is pregnant again by Maradona.
Maradona, 53, has lived in Dubai since 2011 with his girlfriend Rocio Oliva, 23. He has worked as a pro football coach there.
On Friday, Maradona is to announce his engagement to marry Oliva, according to Argentine press reports.
The last time Maradona was in Buenos Aires was Christmas of last year.
Ojeda, 34, announced her new pregnancy with Maradona's child as she arrived at Buenos Aires airport returning from Dubai.
"Yes, I am pregnant again and Diego is the dad," Ojeda told reporters.
She said she had gone to Dubai to tell Maradona about the pregnancy but in the end was not able to see him.
Ojeda was not visibly pregnant -- no baby bump.
She said Maradona will have to provide a DNA sample to deny paternity, and that she is finished with him because he is with Oliva now.
Maradona had already broken up with Ojeda when their child was born on February 13, 2013. They had been together five years. Maradona acknowledged the child as his, but does not see him much.
Ojeda, a physical education teacher who met Maradona while working as a clerk in a clothing store outside Buenos Aires, kept a low profile while she was with Maradona.
It was their separation that exploded into the media.
Maradona has two adult daughters from Claudia Villafane. They divorced in 2004 after 20 years of marriage.
Maradona has also acknowledged he had a son with an Italian woman named Cristiana Sinagra. That offspring, now 27, is Diego Junior.
In 1999, an Argentine court assigned the last name Maradona to a teenager named Jana after Maradona refused to undergo a paternity test. Jana's mother was a nightclub bartender with whom he had had a brief relationship.
