What's buzzing:

Maple Leafs G Bernier having sports hernia surgery

The SportsXchange

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier will have surgery to repair a sports hernia on Wednesday, according to NHL.com.

Bernier missed five games in March because of the injury and then aggravated it April 3 against the Boston Bruins, missing the rest of the season.

Bernier went 26-19-7 with a 2.68 goals-against average and .923 save percentage. The Maple Leafs (38-36-8) missed the playoffs.

Because of the injury, Bernier will likely miss next month's world hockey championship in Belarus for Team Canada.
