Recommendation: Just as he did last season with the Athletics at Triple-A Sacramento, Ramirez will get a chance to prove he's still a competent hitter by first testing himself in the minors. The 41-year-old batted .352 with eight home runs for the EDA Rhinos of Taiwan before asking for his release in June to pursue an opportunity with an MLB team. Ramirez last appeared in the majors in 2011 with the Rays, batting 1-for-17 before retiring to avoid a league suspension for performance-enhancing drugs. He could be a DH option for the Rangers at some point with Lance Berkman dealing with recurring injuries of late.
