Man gets invited to attend free playoff game after hilariously live-tweeting his first experience watching hockey
[Tony Holmes became an Internet sensation after he live tweeted his first time watching a hockey game on TV / Twitter]
The St. Louis Blues hockey team has invited a man to attend game three of the playoffs for free, all because he decided to live-tweet his first hockey viewing experience.
Tony Holmes is a big time baseball and football fan, but he’s the first to admit that hockey has never been on his radar, reports Total Sports Pro. In fact, up until Monday night, he’d never even watched a game on TV. That night while flipping channels, Holmes happened upon a Blues-Chicago Blackhawks game and had his mind blown.
Lucky for us, he tweeted his thoughts to the world, as he viewed a sport he did not understand but was clearly enjoying.
Yo deadass this the first time I’ve ever watched hockey and this shit has been LIT for these first 45 seconds

Holmes thought he was just making some cheeky comments to his followers, but apparently there is a wide audience for sassy newcomers tweeting their hockey confusion, because after the game his Twitter account exploded from 1,600 followers to more than 61,000.
It didn’t take long for the Blues themselves to take notice. The team invited Holmes to attend game three of the playoffs live, and he of course accepted.

After that, it didn’t take long for the media to come calling.
“It’s been crazy,” Holmes said during an appearance on Good Morning America. “I didn’t think it’d be this big about me just tweeting about a hockey game.“
Hockey hall-of-famer Brett Hull even sent the new hockey fan a personal message, letting Holmes know that he was happy he had “finally jumped on the Blues bandwagon.”
Judging by the sudden explosive Internet fame his newfound fandom has created, we’re guessing that Holmes is pretty happy, too.
