Maine signs minor league deal with Marlins

The SportsXchange

Right-handed pitcher John Maine signed a minor league deal with the Miami Marlins, MLB.com reported Monday.

Maine, 31, has not pitched in the major leagues since 2010 and has had shoulder problems in recent years.

He spent five of his seven major-league seasons with the New York Mets, including 2010.

Last year, Maine was 8-5 with a 4.97 ERA in 16 games (15 starts) for the New York Yankees' Class AAA-affiliated Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

He is 41-36 with a 4.35 ERA in 108 major-league games pitched.

In 2007, Maine enjoyed his best season when he was 15-10 with a 3.91 ERA in 32 starts for the Mets.
