Madden trolls Dez Bryant over his 90 rating

Madden 17 is out in stores today, which means it’s something of a national holiday for 14 year old boys who insist on going for it on every fourth down. While each new installment of Madden brings joy to millions of people, not everybody is happy with the game’s developers.

Every year it seems there are NFL players that are dissatisfied with their digital player ratings. In the past league MVP Cam Newton (who is a big gamer himself) has complained about his speed being too low.

This year the resident discontent appears to be Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, who can’t believe that EA Sports had the nerve to give him a 90 overall rating.

Here’s what Dez told the Dallas News on Friday about that:

“I play Madden, I [expletive] love Madden… They would do me like that? Oh my God. That is an insult, like why would you do that to me?”

A quick review of EA’s player ratings show that Dez Bryant isn’t even considered one of the top five wide receivers in the game. Here’s that list:

Antonio Brown: 97 overall
Julio Jones: 96 overall
A.J. Green: 93 overall
Odell Beckham Jr.: 93 overall
DeAndre HopkinsL 93 overall

Back in the day Dez would have to live with his 90 overall rating all year long. Now Madden has more dynamic rating systems that change throughout the season depending on how a player is perfoming on the field. Bryant has vowed that his rating will be going up soon:

“Like I told Madden, they put me at 90, I’m not worried about that. That rating going to shoot up real quick, you best believe that…”

Now the developers at EA are firing back. A few minutes ago on their official Madden twitter account, they trolled Bryant by sharing a muffed field goal attempt.

Madden trolls Dez Bryant:

Just wait until he finds out that one of the big selling points for this year’s version is an improved zone defense scheme that is smarter and supposedly won’t be abused so easily by overloading vertical routes.

We were already pretty sure, but now we’re dead certain that Dez Bryant is going to tear it up this year. We won’t get to see it this week, though. According to a Cowboys team release, Bryant will be held out of Thursday night’s prime-time matchup with the Seattle Seahawks due to a concussion suffered in yesterday’s practice. However, his teammate Ezekiel Elliot is expected to make his NFL debut.
