Mad Dash: Vin Baker turns life around, training to manage a Starbucks

Former NBA star Vin Baker is on the road to redemption, and his latest step is unorthodox, but a pretty cool sign that he seems to be on the right path. The revelation comes from a story in the Providence Journal, and it turns out Baker is training to manage a Starbucks franchise. After a highly visible fall from grace that included alcohol abuse, weight problems, and legal issues, Baker says he's trying to show you can turn your life around, and be an example to those around you. He says he's been four years sober, and spends his tim coaching, preaching and planning for this new career path. We'll absolutely never get tired of turnaround stories like this.

Trade deadlines can be hard on players and their families, but David DeJesus's trade from the Rays to the Angels couldn't have worked out better for his family. DeJesus's wife, Kim, tweeted that she couldn't be happier about the move, as the family lives in Los Angeles and that means David will be home with his young son a lot more often now. A trade to a playoff run and a chance to sleep in your own bed every night is definitely a big win at the deadline.
