LPGA: Park snags No. 1 away from Lewis

Inbee Park leapfrogged American Stacy Lewis to take over the No. 1 spot in the LPGA Rolex Rankings.

The LPGA was idle over the weekend, but Park was able to inch four hundredths of a point ahead of Lewis on the strength of her commanding victory at the first major tournament of the year the previous week.

"This is a very big day in my golf career," Park said. "I'm so happy to share it with my family who are here in Hawaii with me.

It's nice to reach this goal, but I know a lot of players are close to No. 1. It gives me something else to play for every week

and I know it's going to be a lot of fun."

Yani Tseng, who began the season ranked No. 1, remains in third place. Na Yeon Choi and Yeon Ryu join Park to give Korea three golfers in the top five.

American Paula Creamer dropped one spot to fall out of the top 10.
