Na Yeon Choi and Jessica Korda both shot 9-under rounds of 64 to share the first-round lead at the inaugural Reignwood LPGA Classic in Beijing.
Choi, No. 6 in the Rolex Rankings and Korda (No. 26) are both seeking their first victories of 2013 and are four shots ahead of a group of three golfers that includes No. 3 Stacy Lewis and South Koreans Hee Kyung Seo and Hee Young Park.
Korda held the clubhouse lead until Choi matched her while playing in the final group.
"I finished second in Alabama and got a little taste of it and that second (career) win," said Korda. "I'm kind of going after it. I had a great break for two weeks after Evian back in Czech Republic with my family and I feel really relaxed here.
"It seems to be a really good golf; it suits my eye. I'm excited for what the next three days bring."
Choi reeled off four consecutive birdies to finish her round.
"I feel I had a perfect game out there especially those last four holes," she said. "I didn't expect to have four birdies on the finish. I finished very strong. I was very surprised there were so many Chinese fans supporting me and I was really thankful."
