BALTIMORE -- Erik Etherly shot 11 of 18 from the floor to score a career-high 30 points as Loyola (Md.) edged Manhattan 63-61 Sunday afternoon at Reitz Arena. With the victory, the Greyhounds locked up the third-seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament. Dylon Cormier added 14 points for Loyola, and Robert Olson scored 10 points for the Greyhounds (21-10, 12-6). Rhamel Brown led the Jaspers (12-17, 9-9) with 14 points, while Donovan Kates compiled 11 points and eight rebounds for Manhattan. Loyola shot 48.3 percent from the field in the first half on its way to a 39-35 halftime lead. The Greyhounds' lead was double-digits midway through the second half when the Jaspers sliced the lead to three at 58-55 with just under four minutes to go in the game. But Loyola's defense stiffened and the Greyhounds held on for the win. The game was decided at the free-throw line in the second half. Despite shooting 50 percent from the field, the Jaspers had only two free-throw attempts and missed both. The Greyhounds shot 37.5 percent from the field, but went 11 of 17 from the free-throw line in the second half. Loyola also took advantage of 15 Manhattan turnovers and turned them into 19 points.
