Loyola-Maryland 51, Manhattan 41

Riverdale, N.Y. -- Senior forward Erik Etherly had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead visiting Loyola-Maryland to a 51-41 victory over Manhattan in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game Friday at Draddy Gymnasium.

Senior forward Anthony Winbush added nine points and eight rebounds for the Greyhounds (15-6, 7-2 MAAC), who have won three in a row and six of seven.

Sophomore forward Emmy Andujar came off the bench to compile 12 points and 16 rebounds for the Jaspers (5-14, 3-6), who have lost nine of 11.

Loyola slowly built up a lead as both teams struggled to score early in the opening half. The Greyhounds led 10-5 midway through the period and went up 21-11 when Etherly made two free throws with 4:35 remaining in the half to cap a 9-0 run.

The Jaspers responded with a 9-0 run of their own, cutting Loyola's lead to 21-10 when Donovan Kates made a 3-pointer with 1:41 to go. The Greyhounds led 25-23 at the break.

The Jaspers led briefly after Andujar made a 3-pointer to put them up 26-25 in the first minute of the second half, but the Greyhounds scored the next seven points to go up for good.
