Louisville RB Perry out for year

The SportsXchange

Louisville running back Senorise Perry is out for the rest of the season after tearing his right ACL during the first quarter of Saturday's loss at Syracuse, the Courier-Journal reported Monday.

Perry leads the Cardinals with 705 yards even though he has not started a game this year.

Jeremy Wright, who is right behind with 680 rushing yards, will get even more carries, coach Charlie Strong said.

Dominique Brown, the Cardinals leading rusher last year, could also get some carries. He has not played this season because of a knee injury he sustained in August.

"We'll weigh every option we have available," Strong said. "You have to look at it like this: If we get another running back hurt then we're going to need someone to run the football, too. We still have to go win football games."

Another option is freshman Corvin Lamb, who has carried the ball just twice this season for minus-1 yard. He does have a 53-yard touchdown catch.

Louisville, ranked No. 19 in the BCS, is on a bye this week. It plays Connecticut on Nov. 24.
