Louisiana Tech guard Raheem Appleby scored 26 points, and the Bulldogs scorched the nets from all over the court Tuesday in a 103-78 victory over Illinois-Chicago in the semifinals of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla. The Bulldogs (4-1) led 60-36 at halftime and never let the Flames into the game. Louisiana Tech shot 33-for-62 (53.2 percent) from the field, knocked down eight 3-pointers and went to the free throw line 43 times, making 29. UIC was led by forward/center Jordan Harks, who made three of his four field goal attempts and finished with 10 points. The Flames (2-4) shot the ball well, particularly at the free-throw line, where the team went 17-for-19. However, they had no answers for the Bulldogs on the other end of the court, especially in the first half. Tech forward Chris Anderson finished with 21 points, and guard Cordarius Johnson added 18. Louisiana Tech moves on to face the St. Bonaventure-Wagner winner for the championship Wednesday. UIC will meet the loser for third place.
