It may be safe to say the Cleveland Indians have broken out of their funk, taking three of four games in their most recent series against the Baltimore Orioles. While they return home for a three-game set against the Los Angeles Angels, they will still need to keep the momentum going since Los Angeles is not the same struggling team they faced back in late April.
On Monday against the Angels, Ubaldo Jimenez will have to be next to perfect if the Indians are expected to come out victorious. Angel's ace Jered Weaver is expected to take the mound making for a game in which hits will not come easy for the Tribe bats.
Sitting just a game and a half behind the AL Central leading Chicago White Sox, the Indians must finish these final seven home games strong heading into the All-Star break. Once they return, the only thing that will be on the minds of the players and fans is doing anything it takes to make the playoffs and win a championship.
Ubaldo Jimenez (7-6, 4.69 ERA) will take the mound for the Indians facing off against the Angels' Jered Weaver (8-1, 2.31 ERA).
Cleveland enters the game with a 40-38 record and in second place in the American League Central. They are 20-18 when playing at home and have won four of their last 10 games.
Los Angeles comes into the matchup with a 44-35 record and in second place in the American League West. They are 22-18 when playing on the road and have won seven of their last 10 games.
The season series is currently stands at 2-1 in favor of the Indians.
