Looks and Touches: Week 11

Matt Buser
Yahoo Sports

The following is a list of the Week 11 leaders in looks and touches. It defines those running backs and receivers who received the most attention this past weekend.

Touches is defined as the number of times a running back carried or caught the football.
Looks is defined as the number of times a player was the intended target of a pass.

Touches
Marshawn Lynch's most productive game of the season was likely the deciding factor in a number of Week 11 matchups – he logged season highs with 33 touches (23 carries, 10 catches) and 177 yards (119 rushing, 58 receiving) and scored his seventh TD of the season. The Bills were a one-man show, as Lynch's offensive teammates combined for fewer touches (21 – 15 carries, 6 catches) and yards (157 – 67 rushing, 90 receiving).

Warrick Dunn figures to only build on his top-10 showing in Week 11 (24 – 20 carries, 4 catches) moving forward. He takes over exclusive RB1 duties with Earnest Graham expected to miss the remainder of the regular season and, while the Bucs are middle of the pack(ish) in terms of rushing attempts (12th, 28.1 per game), Dunn and Graham have combined for 49 catches for 381 yards through 10 games.

A number of factors contributed to BenJarvus Green-Ellis' being a complete non-factor in Week 11 (2 carries, 9 yards) after averaging 16 touches and scoring a TD in each of the past four weeks. The reasons: Matt Cassell threw a season-high 51 passes, Cassell also accounted for eight carries for the Pats, and Sammy Morris was back in the mix (5 carries, 14 yards). The increase in confidence in Cassell coupled with the increase of healthy bodies at running back could serve to all but eliminate Green-Ellis' fantasy usefulness.

The platoon watch notes when a team's RB2 is given at least half as many touches as the RB1, regardless of the reason. Platoon watch for Week 11 included: Arizona (Tim Hightower 11, J.J. Arrington 11), Baltimore (Ray Rice 12, Willis McGahee 11), Carolina (Jonathan Stewart 16, DeAngelo Williams 14), Denver (Peyton Hillis 13, Tatum Bell 7), Houston (Steve Slaton 14, Ahman Green 10), Indianapolis (Joseph Addai 26, Dominic Rhodes 13), Jacksonville (Maurice Jones-Drew 20, Fred Taylor 13), Miami (Ronnie Brown 17, Ricky Williams 15), NY Giants (Derrick Ward 15, Brandon Jacobs 11), Seattle (Julius Jones 11, Maurice Morris 6), San Francisco (Frank Gore 20, DeShaun Foster 12), St. Louis (Antonio Pittman 17, Kenneth Darby 15) and Tennessee (Chris Johnson 21, LenDale White 14).

Yards-per-touch leaders for Week 11 (minimum 10 touches) included: Steve Slaton (11.14, 14 for 156), DeAngelo Williams (8.57, 14 for 120), and Jonathan Stewart (8.38, 16 for 134). The bottom three: Julius Jones (1.27, 11 for 14), Willis McGahee (2.27, 11 for 25), and Ahman Green (2.4, 10 for 24).

Looks
With the Jets paying special attention to Randy Moss and Wes Welker, Benjamin Watson essentially doubled his season output entering the game (24 looks, 11 catches, 99 yards, 0 TD) with a massive Week 11 performance (14 looks, 8 catches, 88 yards, 1 TD). While Watson was the major beneficiary, Cassell did spread the looks around (Jabar Gaffney 11, Welker 8, Moss 7, Kevin Faulk 5).

Notable names not among the Week 11 looks leaders: Steve Breaston (3), Isaac Bruce (3), Greg Camarillo (2), Bobby Engram (2), Lee Evans (1), Anthony Gonzalez (3), Frank Gore (3), Maurice Jones-Drew (3), Muhsin Muhammad (2), Bo Scaife (2), Brandon Stokley (3), Kevin Walter (3) and Jason Witten (3).

Under-the-radar names among the league leaders in looks per game over the past five weeks: Greg Camarillo (8.6), Mark Bradley (7.8), Koren Robinson (6.6), Bobby Wade (6.3), Shaun McDonald (6.2), Justin Gage (6) and Javon Walker (5.8).

Top 10 players in catch percentage (minimum 4.0 looks per game): Marion Barber (85%, 39/46), Matt Forte (83%, 43/52), Josh Reed (79%, 26/33), Marshawn Lynch (79%, 37/47), Wes Welker (78%, 73/93), Bo Scaife (77%, 44/57), Kevin Faulk (77%, 30/39), Chris Cooley (76%, 55/72), Billy Miller (76%, 28/37) and Reggie Bush (75%, 42/56).

Bottom 10 players in catch percentage (minimum 4.0 looks per game): Marty Booker (26%, 11/42), Justin McCareins (33%, 14/42), Braylon Edwards (41%, 35/86), Justin Gage (45%, 21/47), Mark Clayton (45%, 21/47), L.J.
