LeBron going back to Cavs:

A Look Ahead Towards UFC 153: Fan’s Take

Yahoo Contributor Network

After the debacle that was (or wasn't) UFC 151, the Ultimate Fighting Championship needs to ensure the cancellation of an event never occurs again. UFC 152 will take place in less than two weeks with Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Vitor Belfort and the inaugural flyweight champion will be crowned when Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez square off. While that card appears to be solid, it is UFC 153 on October 13 that will help erase the memories of those fans still hurt by the cancellation of UFC 151.

The main event will see Jose Aldo defend the UFC featherweight title against former lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar. It will be Edgar's first fight in the division, but after his run in the lightweight division, the UFC felt he was the next best opponent for Aldo after his original opponent was forced out of the fight because of injury. Aldo is trying to join fellow-countrymen Anderson Silva in the top two of the pound-for-pound discussion and needs a victory against Edgar to have a chance at that crown.

The co-main event will see upstart Brazilian Glover Teixeira take on a man with one foot out the door in Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Jackson has one fight left on his contract and will look to spoil Teixeira's attempt at moving up the rankings of the light heavyweight division.

Teixeira isn't the only man with title aspirations looking to get a victory at the event. Erick Silva will look to climb the rankings inside the welterweight division when he takes on Jon Fitch. Two fights ago, Silva was dominating Carlo Prater in the first round before being disqualified for illegal punches to the back of the head. It was a decision that brought comparisons to Jones when he lost to Matt Hamill before his memorable run began. Silva recovered by beating Charlie Brenneman with a first round submission and will look to give Fitch his second straight loss.

The event will also feature an interesting fight between Rick Story and Demian Maia. Many felt Story was ready to compete for a title, but those talks were ended quickly by Brenneman and then again by Martin Kampmann. Maia will be competing in the welterweight division for just the second time, with his first fight in the division being a TKO victory against Dong Hyun Kim.

UFC 153 emanates from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
