Australian cyclist Cadel Evans has had numerous past successes as a triple Olympian, Tour de France champion and two-time Tour de France runner-up and a former World Champion. Ever since his career started as a cross-country cyclist, Evans has risen the ranks steadily. In the 1996 Atlanta Olympics he finished ninth in the new sport of mountain biking and in the 2000 Sydney Olympics he finished seventh. After his Olympic stint, he won the Tours of Austria in 2001 and 2004 and Romandie in 2006. In 2007 and 2008, Cadel Evans was the runner-up for Tour de France. And in 2011, he finally clinched the win at the coveted Tour de France making him the first Australian and the oldest champion at 34 years old.
