In the Olympic boxing women's competition, participants from three weight categories will compete ranging from Fly Weight (48-51 kg) to Middle Weight (69-75 kg).
Bouts will take place over four rounds of two minutes each. Boxers score a point for each successful punch landed to the head or upper body. If a boxer is knocked to the ground and fails to get up within a 10 count from the referee, the bout is over.
The Olympic competition is run in a single elimination format. The winners of the two semifinal matches will compete for the gold medal while the losers will compete for the bronze.
