Liz Carmouche vs. Miesha Tate Added to UFC on Fox 8 Main Card

The UFC has put together its next women’s fight and it happens to be between two women that have already fought in the Octagon.

Liz Carmouche – who challenged Ronda Rousey in the UFC’s first-ever women’s bout – will face Miesha Tate on the UFC on Fox 8 main card on July 27. UFC officials on Wednesday confirmed the fight, first rumored on UFC Tonight on Tuesday night.

Carmouche (8-3) may have failed in her bid to wrest the belt from Rousey, but she came about as close as anyone ever has to derailing the Rousey train. She eventually succumbed to the same opponent as the rest of the UFC women’s bantamweight champion’s opponents, but she’ll get the opportunity to redeem herself when she faces Tate, a former Strikeforce champion.

Tate (12-3) lost her Strikeforce belt to Rousey, but bounced back with an armbar submission of her own when she fought Julie Kedzie.

Like Carmouche, Tate has already made her Octagon debut, losing to Cat Zingano on the TUF 17 Finale main card in Las Vegas. Tate not only suffered a loss, but also saw her opportunity to coach opposite Rousey on TUF 18 and then rematch her go up in smoke.

She’ll try to get back on track against Carmouche when the two square off on the UFC on Fox 8 main card on July 27 at the KeyArena in Seattle. UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson puts his belt on the line against John Moraga in the night’s main event.
