Lions sign WR Dillard

The Lions agreed to a one-year contract with free agent wide receiver Jarett Dillard.

Dillard, a fifth-round pick with the Jaguars in 2009, caught 29 passes for 292 yards last season.

He was released in May as the Jaguars overhauled their receiving corps, signing free agents Lee Evans and Laurent Robinson, before drafting Justin Blackmon in the first round of April's NFL draft.

The Lions had yet to announce the corresponding move to create a spot on their 90-man roster.

Dillard was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award in 2006 at Rice University, catching touchdown passes in 15 straight games. He caught 14 touchdown passes in 2007 and set the NCAA record for touchdown catches with 60.
