Lions sign LB McIntosh

The Detroit Lions signed veteran linebacker Rocky McIntosh on Saturday.

McIntosh played for the St. Louis Rams last season and the previous six for the Washington Redskins.

McIntosh, 30, had his best season in 2010 when he had 70 tackles with the Redskins.

The Lions struggled with tackling in a 24-6 preseason loss against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday.

Ashlee Palmer and Tahir Whitehead have been competing for the starting left inside linebacker spot, the same position McIntosh plays.

Also, backup middle linebacker Travis Lewis was fined $15,750 for a horsecollar tackle during the Lions' preseason opener against the New York Jets.
