Lions release DE Vanden Bosch

The Lions informed DE Kyle Vanden Bosch he will be released, according to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports. The team's website later confirmed the move.

Vanden Bosch, 34, has been in Detroit for three seasons, starting 43 games and recording 15½ sacks.

Prior to joining the Lions, Vanden Bosch spent five seasons with the Titans. He entered the NFL in 2001 with the Cardinals. Vanden Bosch has 58 career sacks and 20 forced fumbles. In 2012, he started every game and had 36 tackles and 3½ sacks.

Per the report, Vanden Bosch was slated to make $5 million in base salary in 2013.
