Lions DT Williams done for the season

Lions DT Corey Williams underwent knee surgery earlier this week and will miss Sunday’s game against the Vikings, the team’s website reported.

Williams is “week-to-week” going forward. The ninth-year player has started the first three games of the season for Detroit and has six tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble. He started all but one game for the Lions in 2010-11.

In his nine NFL seasons, Williams has missed nine games, playing in every game from 2006-10. He has 27½ career sacks.

DTs Nick Fairley and Sammie Lee Hill will be the next men up to start on the D-line next to Ndamukong Suh.
