Lions re-sign OT Hilliard

The Lions hired Curtis Modkins and Bobby Johnson to join the offensive coaching staff, among several changes announced Monday.

Modkins spent the past three seasons as the Bills' offensive coordinator/running backs coach. He will be Detroit's running backs coach/run-game coordinator.

Johnson was with the Jaguars in 2012 and will be the Lions' tight ends coach this season. He was the Bills' assistant O-line coach, working with Modkins, from 2010-11.

Tim Lappano has been the Lions' tight ends coach for the past four seasons and will move to coaching wide receivers in 2013. Jeremiah Washburn has been promoted to offensive line coach. He spent the past three seasons as Detroit's assistant offensive line coach.

The Lions also confirmed that special-teams coordinator Danny Crossman will not return for 2013.
