Morelia - Veracruz
Home side Monarcas are badly in need of a victory and squandered a chance to get three points last week against Chiapas. Veracruz would normally be a good team to play with a Liguilla place seeming difficult to attain, but Los Tiburones Rojos jumped up and bit Pachuca last weekend.
Tijuana - Toluca
Strength at Estadio Caliente has been Tijuana's only saving grace this season, but Xolos don't have to play teams as tough as Toluca most weeks. The visitors are rolling after wins against Tigres and a midweek Champions League triumph.
America - Cruz Azul
Last week, Las Aguilas ended the talk about the club being in crisis by thumping Chivas in the Clascio Nacional. Now it's a more local derby against a tougher opponent. Cruz Azul still leads the league but was stunned by Atlas last week in a 3-1 defeat and drew its previous league match. It also dropped a result midweek to Tijuana. Fans may have fears of another late-season collapse beginning to rise. This match will be crucial for the direction of both clubs.
Monterrey - Santos
Los Rayados had a woeful start to the season but suddenly have awakened and won their last two. Now they go for their third top-eight scalp, but Santos comes into the match sitting third and undefeated in its previous four league matches.
Pachuca - Chivas
After embarrassing defeats last week, both teams will look to get back on track. Chivas will do it with a new manager, replacing Guero Real with Ricardo La Volpe in response to a 4-0 beatdown put on them by rival America. Pachuca looks to recover from a 3-1 loss to then-bottom Veracruz. Each team could use some positivity or it risks missing the postseason.
Leon - Queretaro
Two draws in the previous two matches have given the reigning champion a bit of hope it can defend its title by making the Liguilla, and seeing Queretaro on the schedule coming into the Camp Nou will also raise the spirits. The bad news for the hosts? Despite the off-field trouble, Queretaro has won its past two matches.
Atlas - Puebla
Both of these clubs are feeling the crush of relegation fears, with Atlas planning a huge rally of support before the match and Puebla keeping DaMarcus Beasley and Michael Orozco with the club rather than releasing them for U.S. national team duty. It's getting down to the nitty-gritty, and if there's a loser that team will have work to do to avoid the drop.
Pumas - Chiapas
A rash of injuries has been a blow for Pumas, and now the upstarts risk missing the postseason with the Liguilla picture looking very tight toward the bottom few spots. Pumas will be happy to be back at home against a team that has been inconsistent this season, but Chiapas' 1-0 win against Morelia will give the visitors hope they can dent Pumas' hopes and jump into a slot as well.
Atlante - Tigres
With the league so tight, Tigres still has a chance to make the postseason but has wasted its recent opportunities, losing its last two. Atlante currently sits in the playoff positions but is also attempting to stave off relegation and will be frustrated after Monterrey handed it a defeat last week. The Sunday nightcap shouldn't lack for intensity with each squad having plenty to play for.
